Proceeds from the event, organized by Anesthesiology Residency Junior Chiefs of Advocacy Drs. Morgan Zopp and David Brinton, benefited Light of Life Rescue Mission.

This year, UPMC Anesthesiology successfully matched 22 outstanding trainees, comprising 18 categorical residents, one advanced resident, two PANTHER Research Scholars, and one Combined Anesthesiology/Pediatrics resident.

Sharon Chabal is a 1980 graduate of the Pitt School of Nursing; Dr. Charles Chabal earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1982 and graduated from our Anesthesiology Residency Program in 1985.

Michael W. Best, MD, FASA, Lt Col, USAF, has been named Program Director of our anesthesiology residency, effective January 1, 2026.

Congratulations to Denali Davis, MD (Chief Resident) and Sarah Fribance, MD and Tyler Weigel, MD (Associate Chief Residents) on their appointments.

Our department will host the 6th annual fundraiser to benefit Light of Life Rescue Mission on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Phipps Conservatory.

Boris Anyama, MD, and Stephanie Parry, MD, both former residents and fellows, are now colleagues and faculty members who recently worked side by side to provide expert care for both mother and baby at UPMC Horizon.

Over her distinguished career, Dr. Soliman has played an integral role in shaping the academic experiences of medical students, residents, fellows, and student registered nurse anesthetists.

Alex Burlew, MD (PGY-2), was honored for his outstanding mentorship and dedication to medical student education during the Spring 2025 University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Acting Internship.
