Our department is committed to helping every faculty member achieve their maximum potential. To this end, we have developed a series of faculty professional development programs.

The Faculty Development Seminar Series supports faculty growth through discussions on teaching, research, and leadership. These sessions provide valuable insights, foster collaboration, and help faculty advance their skills and connect with peers.

For new faculty members joining our department, a series of manuals has been created. Each manual concisely summarizes various academic aspects of teaching, scholarly activity, and faculty development.


We offer several different mentorship programs, including three for faculty. The programs are administered through MentorcliQ, and you can learn more in our Mentorship website section.

Physician well-being has been recognized as an acute issue in healthcare. UPMC offers a number of physician wellness programs, including Physician THRIVE, and the American Medical Association (AMA) has honored UPMC as one of 22 national medical organizations committed to cutting doctor burnout.
