This scholarship was established to recognize outstanding 2nd-4th year anesthesiology residents who demonstrate aptitude and portray interest in leadership and practice management.
Congratulations to our resident alumni Drs. Kelsey Bauer, Ian Brotman, Kathleen Coy, Andrew Hulme, Kaarin Michaelson, David Nelson, Eugene Raggi, Daniel Springer, Sara Straesser, Michael Thompson, Lieu Tran, and Nicole Verdecchia, who all passed the July 2018 National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) Basic TEE (transesophageal echocardiography) Examination.
The event celebrates the educational innovations and scholarship of students, fellows, residents, and faculty across all Pitt schools of the health sciences.
Congratulations to our residents Drs. Ian Brotman, Michael Gemma, Evan Lebovitz, and Neal Shah who won awards for presenting their academic work at the conference.
Our residency program’s Recruitment and Selection Committee (chaired by Patrick J. Forte, MD) announced that Drs. Phil Carullo, Chelsey Woodrum, and Steven Bartels will serve as our Chief Residents for the 2018-2019 academic year.
This was an extremely strong year, with 15 of our top 30 candidates choosing to match with us. These included nine students from the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society, designating them as top medical students within their respective schools.
For the first time, our physicians and CRNAs united to celebrate both National CRNA Week and National Physician Anesthesiologists Week by supporting a charity event to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic and raise funds for Light of Life Rescue Mission, an organization that helps homeless people and those who often suffer from addiction.
