Dr. Lim will lead the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine at the University of Utah's Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, bringing over a decade of experience in maternal health research, clinical innovation, and academic leadership.

We are pleased to announce the match results for our Obstetric Anesthesiology Fellowship program for the 2026–2027 academic year through the San Francisco Match.

Dr. Smith is an Assistant Professor and has served as the Associate Program Director for the OB Anesthesiology Fellowship program since 2024 and Director of OB Anesthesiology Education in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine since 2021.

Grace Lim, MD, MSc, a nationally recognized physician-scientist and Chief of the Division of Obstetric and Women's Anesthesiology at UPMC, has been chosen President-Elect of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.

Our faculty and trainees will participate in several activities at the 2025 meeting of the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP), taking place Wednesday, April 30 – Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.

Grace Lim, MD, MS, and Elizabeth Krans, MD, MSc, will present the talk, “More Than a 0–10: Rethinking Pain and Suffering in Obstetric & Women's Health” on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The ELEVATE Summit, co-chaired by Grace Lim, MD, MSc, and held January 25-26, 2025, at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, convened leading experts, researchers, policymakers, and patient advocates to address critical issues in women’s pain management and anesthesia care.

Dr. Lim was appointed as an Associate Editor of Anesthesiology, the flagship journal of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the highest-impact journal in the field of anesthesiology, for a three-year term starting January 1, 2025.

Drs. Brendan Lynch, Madeline Martell, and Henry Paiste were recognized for their outstanding performance in OB anesthesiology during their clinical rotations over the past academic year.

Their innovative study aims to address the complex interplay between socioeconomic factors and obstetric anesthesia care for patients with opioid use disorder.
