
The Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is a one-year fellowship open to individuals who have successfully completed an ACGME or ACGME-I accredited residency in anesthesiology. As part of a unique Multidisciplinary Critical Care Training Program (MCCTP) at UPMC, our fellows get the opportunity to learn from both faculty and peer fellows with backgrounds in internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, neurology, and neurosurgery.
Clinical Rotations
Core clinical rotations (9 months)
- Cardiothoracic ICU
- Trauma/surgical ICU
- Trauma/burns ICU
- Neurotrauma ICU
- Neurovascular and neurosurgical ICU
- Liver and abdominal visceral transplant ICU
- Veterans Affairs surgical and medical ICUs
Elective rotations (4 months) include but are not limited to
- Point of care ultrasound (POCUS)
- Transesophageal echocardiography
- Radiology
- Nephrology
- Toxicology
Education
- Weekly afternoon lectures
- Weekly noon conferences for Journal Club, M&M, and grand rounds
- Additional workshops (simulator sessions, cadaver airway lab, POCUS, etc.)
