Grace Lim, MD, MS, was awarded a major RO1 grant of over $2.5M from the National Institutes of Healt /National Institute of Mental Health for her research proposal “Ketamine to Reduce Postpartum Depression and Pain after Cesarean Delivery.”

Marcia Timko-Shannon, MD, was awarded grant funding from the Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation for her project, “Translation of Obstetric Consents for our Limited-English-Proficiency Patients.”

The 20th annual Safar Symposium and 13th annual Multi-Departmental Trainees’ Research Day was held on May 18-19, 2023.

Andrea Ibarra, MD, MS, was awarded the inaugural $250,000 Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology/Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Mentored Research Training Grant for her project “The Effect of Preeclampsia on Cognitive Function.”

We were honored to host the 17th Annual Pennsylvania Anesthesiology Resident Research Conference here in Pittsburgh on Saturday, May 13, 2023, which was our fourth time hosting after our turns hosting in 2008, 2014, and 2019.

We will host the 13th International NPY-PYY-PP Research Conference this summer July 15-18, 2023, here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Paramita Basu won the Best Poster Presentation in Basic Science Award at the US Association for the Study of Pain meeting, April 11-14, 2023, in Durham, NC.

Sonja L. Plasil successfully defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Long Noncoding RNA Dysregulation Alters Ethanol Drinking Behavior and Ethanol-Related Behavioral Phenotypes” on April 13, 2023.
