UPMC Presbyterian CRNAs Host 2nd Annual Lemonade Stand to Support Local Charity

A lively neighborhood lemonade stand under a bright blue canopy on a sunny day. The stand is set up on a residential street lined with modern two-story houses. Underneath the canopy, a table with a vibrant yellow banner displaying "412 KIDS GIVE BACK" and a web address is visible. The table is filled with items likely supporting the lemonade sale, including a large orange cooler, purple pitchers, and cups. A homemade poster on the table reads "412 KIDS GIVE BACK Lemonade $1.00" with drawings of lemons, indicating the event's charitable purpose. Several children and adults are engaging with the stand. Two children are near the table, possibly waiting for a drink, while an adult behind the table serves or organizes items. Another adult with a baby in a carrier interacts across the table, and another adult holding a toddler stands at the table's far end. All individuals are dressed casually for a warm day, contributing to the event's casual, family-friendly atmosphere. The backdrop of well-maintained houses and clear skies suggests a community-oriented event focused on charity and family participation.

On Sunday, July 13th, 2025, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) at UPMC Presbyterian gathered to support children affected by cancer by hosting their second annual lemonade stand. This year's event was organized to support the 412GivesBack initiative, with all funds raised going directly to One Day to Remember, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children whose parents are battling end-stage cancers.

One Day to Remember was founded in 2016 by an oncology nurse at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Witnessing the profound impact of advanced-stage disease on young children, she was inspired to create a nonprofit organization focused on providing essential resources and support to these children during their parents' most challenging times.

The lemonade stand, organized by Anna Gombar, MS, CRNA, and KC Smith, DNP, CRNA, successfully raised $2,200. This amount will aid One Day to Remember in its mission to bring comfort and assistance to families facing the hardships of cancer.
