For the past few years, the American Association of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has partnered with LifeBox to raise funds to improve the delivery of anesthesia and surgical care around the world, especially in countries with poor access to healthcare. To date, LifeBox has distributed over 18,000 pulse oximeters, trained over 6,000 medical personnel, held nearly 150 workshops, and partnered with over 3,000 hospitals.

Monitoring via pulse oximeters in the operating room and other key areas in the hospital is extremely important. Every $250 raised leads to one pulse oximeter donated to an area of need.

Each year, ASA encourages resident teams to raise funds for this important cause. Our residents have formed a team to take part in the 2019 fundraising challenge.

The winner of the challenge will be announced at the 2019 ASA meeting in Orlando, FL.
