John O’Donnell Appointed Senior Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning in School of Nursing

John O’Donnell, DrPH, CRNA, CHSE, FSSH, FAANA, FAANWe are pleased to share that John O’Donnell, DrPH, CRNA, CHSE, FSSH, FAANA, FAAN, has been appointed as the first Senior Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. Dr. O'Donnell, a distinguished leader in the field of nurse anesthesia education, brings a wealth of experience and innovation to this pivotal role.

Dr. O'Donnell has been instrumental in leading Pitt’s Nurse Anesthesia Doctor of Nursing Practice program to national prominence. His work in simulation and education, coupled with his leadership in accreditation through the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, has firmly established the University of Pittsburgh as a leader in nurse anesthesia. Thanks to his leadership as Program Director, the Nurse Anesthesia program is currently ranked #2 in the nation and #1 among civilian institutions by U.S. News & World Report.

As Dr. O'Donnell steps into his new role as Senior Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning, he will continue to be an integral part of the Nurse Anesthesia faculty, offering his invaluable expertise and mentorship to both colleagues and students. His appointment marks a significant milestone in the School of Nursing's commitment to advancing educational excellence and innovation.
