Fei Zhang Awarded NIH Grant to Develop Intraoperative Anesthesia Monitoring Tool

"Headshot of Fei Zhang"

Congratulations to Fei Zhang, MSN, PhD, CRNA, UPMC Passavant, who is being awarded K08 grant funding from the National Institutes of Health for his project, “Synthesizing Intraoperative Multivariate Time Series with Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks.”

The goal of Fei’s project is to develop a deep learning method that can generate intraoperative data to identify and predict complications during anesthesia management and later build a real-time intraoperative clinical decision support system. This important data can be used to improve patient safety and circumvent risks associated with these intraoperative complications such as myocardial injury, stroke, kidney injury, reduced long-term survival, and death.
