Alex Burlew, MD (PGY-2), has been honored with a Pitt Med Professionalism Accolade for his outstanding mentorship and dedication to medical student education during the Spring 2025 University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Acting Internship.
This commendation was awarded through the Pitt Med PAIR program, which highlights outstanding displays of professionalism across the School of Medicine community. Dr. Burlew was nominated by a medical student who worked with him during the rotation and described his impact in detail:
“I am so thankful for all the help I received from Alex. He went out of his way to teach me and the MS3s. He would print out interesting rhythm strips to go over with us and walk us through radiology images. He encouraged us to make decisions independently and to have confidence in our decisions. When I would ask whether I should do ‘x’ instead of ‘y,’ he would often say, ‘what do you think, doctor?’ He was so incredibly competent and knowledgeable... He would often help me with departs and orders when my hands were full. He was such a team player, and it really felt like he was the glue that held the team together.”
Congratulations to Dr. Burlew on this well-deserved honor.
