Amber D. Schaus, CRNA, has been honored with this year's CRNA Preceptor of the Year Award, a prestigious recognition awarded by the UPMC Preceptor Academy.
This award celebrates Amber’s outstanding contributions to clinical and bedside teaching, as recognized by the more than 1,000 advanced practice provider (APP) students who have chosen UPMC for their clinical education. It also reflects the health system’s commitment to recognizing those who equip the next generation of APPs to deliver exceptional care.
“We are proud of Amber’s leadership and dedication,” said Toni Orsino, MBA, CRNA, Senior CRNA Director in our department. “Leading by example, Amber has set the bar high and demonstrated her genuine investment in the success of APP students at UPMC.”
As a preceptor, Schaus has played a vital role in shaping the next generation of nurse anesthetists and advanced practice providers, serving as both a teacher and mentor to students during their hands-on clinical experiences. Her commitment to patient-centered care, combined with her passion for education, exemplifies UPMC values.
By earning this recognition, Schaus joins a select group of educators who have gone above and beyond in preparing APP students to enter the field with the knowledge, skill, and confidence to succeed in today’s evolving health care environment.
