Dr. Adams is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. His clinical practice mainly involves the perioperative management of patients undergoing congenital cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterizations. He is also a member of the UPMC Children's abdominal transplant team.

Dr. Adams' research interests include outcomes in congenital cardiac surgery and resident education. In particular, he has studied patients with single-ventricle physiology and assessed postoperative kidney injury after cardiac surgery. In addition, his work in medical education has focused on well-being during residency training. Dr. Adams has contributed educational content to the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society and serves as a member of the Research Committee for the Society for Education in Anesthesia. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Education in Perioperative Medicine.
