Work by investigators of the REGAIN trial (“Regional Versus General Anesthesia for Promoting Independence After Hip Fracture”), including Charles B. Luke, MD, MBA, FASAM, was recently presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY 2021 and published in The New England Journal of Medicine, one of the world’s leading medical journals. The study, which found no significant difference in patient outcomes with respect to survival, recovery of ambulation at 60 days, and incidence of postoperative delirium between those who received spinal anesthesia and those who got general anesthesia, was also featured on several news websites. Congratulations to Dr. Luke and the REGAIN investigators!
