The department, in collaboration with our colleagues at the Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Advanced Specialized Therapies (IsMeTT), completed another successful MedTASS conference on April 5-6 in Palermo, Sicily. The biannual MedTASS (Mediterranean Transplant Anesthesia and Simulation Symposium) began in 2009, and 2019 marked the sixth symposium. The meeting was another great success. Over 120 people attended the event, overseen by Course Directors Antonio Arcadipane, MD and Raymond M. Planinsic, MD, FASA. Our Chair Aman Mahajan, MD, PhD, MBA delivered the Keynote Address and Drs. Planinsic, David Metro, and Shawn Beaman presented lectures. Simulation sessions and hands-on workshops were conducted with participation from IsMeTT and UPMC faculty. This meeting marked yet another great collaboration of our faculty from Pittsburgh and Palermo, strengthening our relationship for the exchange of education and research.
