The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), an educational, research, and scientific association of physicians organized to raise and maintain medical practice standards of anesthesiology and improve patient care, is one of the largest and most influential professional societies in the specialty. The Annual ASA Meeting features new scientific developments, technology, and challenging cases in the field of anesthesiology. Multitudinous thought leaders, and anesthesia providers from around the world attend the meeting every year.

Many medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty from our department participate in the annual ASA meeting. ANESTHESIOLOGY 2020 will be held virtually from October 2-5. Department members will deliver 38 presentations; two faculty members will moderate sessions; and 13 faculty members, three residents, and one Pitt medical student will serve on ASA and ASA-related committees. Additionally, we will have a team running/walking to raise funds for the 2020 ASA-sponsored “Run for the Warriors.”
