Physician Leadership Changes at UPMC Altoona

"Headshot of Doctor Sinopoli"David J. Sinopoli, MD, MPH, MBA, will take on the role of Chief of Anesthesiology at UPMC Altoona, effective August 1, 2023.

Dr. Sinopoli will officially join our department as faculty and assume the leadership of the UPMC Altoona Anesthesiology Department. He will also serve as the Director of Perioperative Operations for UPMC Perioperative Services. Dr. Sinopoli brings to us exceptional clinical and programmatic leadership experience in anesthesiology and perioperative services. He holds an MD from Rutgers/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School as well as an MPH and MBA from Bloomberg School of Public Health & Carey Business School, Johns Hopkins University. 

Previously, he served as a co-Executive Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology in Columbia, MD and Chairman of Anesthesiology and Director of Quality, Patient Safety & Education at both MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center and MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore. 

In his new role as Chief Anesthesiologist at Altoona, Dr. Sinopoli will oversee and direct all clinical operations at Altoona, including staffing and scheduling, budget and revenue cycle management, OR management, hospital peer review and credentialing, quality, communications, and faculty affairs. He will also serve on several key Altoona leadership committees such as the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff and the Altoona Joint Conference Committee.
