Congratulations to Patricia K. Kitt, one of our CRNAs at UPMC Shadyside, who was selected to receive UPMC Physician Services Division’s “You are a Star” Award for the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2019 (July 1 through September 30, 2018). The Star award recognizes staff members for their excellence, commending those who go above and beyond and maintain a positive work attitude. She will receive a gift card and a certificate.
Patricia was selected for the award due to her exemplary teamwork. When CRNAs were short-staffed at UPMC Bedford, Patricia, who regularly works over 110 miles away at UPMC Shadyside, stepped up to help cover the shortage. This entailed her taking on the lengthy process of getting medical staff privileges at Bedford, leaving her family to drive up to Bedford the night prior, working the needed shifts, and then driving back to return to work at Shadyside. During the week of September 10th, Patricia battled inclement weather and road closures to travel to Bedford to cover CRNAs who were unable to come to work due to flooding issues.
