Congratulations to Ezeldeen Abuelkasem, MBBCh, MSc, FASE; Charles D. Boucek, MD, FASA; Joshua Knight, MD, FASE; Harikesh Subramanian, MBBS; Quratulain Samoon, MD; and Alice Whyte, MD, who all recently passed key exams administered by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE). Dr. Boucek passed the Examination of Basic Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) (Basic PTEeXAM®). Drs. Abuelkasem, Knight, and Subramanian passed the Examination of Special Competence in Adult Echocardiography (ASCeXAM®). Dr. Samoon passed the NBE Advanced Perioperative TEE Examination (Advanced PTEeXAM®). Dr. Whyte passed the Examination of Special Competence in Critical Care Echocardiography (CCEeXAM®).
Our Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Division now has six faculty members (Drs. Abuelkasem, Knight, and Subramanian, along with Michael L. Boisen, MD, FASE; Kimberly Howard-Quijano, MD, MS, FASE; and Kathirvel Subramaniam, MD, MPH, FASE) who are testamurs of the NBE ASCeXAM, an examination targeted to echocardiologists. These six faculty members are also NBE-certified in Advanced Perioperative TEE, reflecting their level of dedication to the field of echocardiography.
