Shawn T. Beaman, MD, FASA, Interim Executive Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in our department and Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, has been elected to Active Membership in the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA).
The AUA is a selective professional organization dedicated to promoting academic leadership and scientific discovery in anesthesiology. Election to Active Membership is a recognition of sustained academic achievement and national impact in research, education, and clinical leadership. Members are chosen through a competitive peer-nomination and review process, and Active Membership reflects the highest level of AUA recognition.
Dr. Beaman’s induction into the AUA affirms his leadership and contributions across a wide range of academic and clinical initiatives. As Chief Anesthesiologist and Director of Trauma Anesthesiology at UPMC Presbyterian, he has led efforts to enhance the perioperative care for all patients, especially those critically injured, at one of the nation’s busiest Level I trauma centers. In his role as Vice Chair, Dr. Beaman plays a central role in advancing quality improvement, patient safety, and system-level initiatives across our department.
Congratulations to Dr. Beaman on this achievement and recognition of his leadership and expertise.
