We are excited to announce that Lindsay M. Stollings, MD, has been appointed Program Director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Stollings brings a wealth of experience in clinical care, education, leadership, and research to this role. Since joining our faculty in 2018, she has been deeply involved in both resident and fellow education and is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In 2023, she was appointed Associate Program Director of our Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship, a role in which she has already made significant contributions.
Dr. Stollings earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Furman University and her Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She began her postgraduate training in General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh before completing an NIH T-32 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in our department. She went on to complete her anesthesiology residency at UPMC, followed by fellowships in both pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Board certified in anesthesiology and subspecialty certified in pediatric anesthesiology, Dr. Stollings is an active member of our Congenital Cardiac Anesthesiology service. She has received numerous awards, including the Joseph H. Marcy Memorial Fellow Award for outstanding performance during her fellowship and our department’s Excellence in Resident Education Award.
Dr. Stollings brings substantial leadership experience to the Program Director role. Since 2019, she has chaired our Residency Recruitment and Selection Committee, overseeing the review of over 1,500 applications annually and successfully guiding the program through the transition to virtual interviews. She led our pediatric fellowship selection process, including its recent transition from the NRMP to the SF Match, and currently serves as Director of the Fellowship Clinical Competency Committee.
Her academic interests include medical education, selection processes for trainees, and congenital cardiac anesthesiology. She has mentored numerous residents and fellows, and her contributions to both clinical and education research continue to shape our training programs.
Dr. Stollings’ vision, dedication to teaching, and leadership within academic anesthesiology make her exceptionally well-suited to guide our Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program into its next chapter.
As we welcome Dr. Stollings into this role, we also extend our gratitude to Franklyn P. Cladis, MD, MBA, FAAP, who has served as Program Director since 2006. Dr. Cladis will continue to serve as Chief of Anesthesiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and holds the Health Sciences Endowed Chair in Pediatric Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Congratulations to Dr. Stollings on her appointment as Program Director. We look forward to all she will bring to this role and to the continued success of the fellowship under her leadership.
