Dr. Keith Vogt and Derrick Liu Win Top Abstract Awards at ISAP Annual Meeting

Two photos from the ISAP Annual Meeting on October 10, 2025 at the Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio. In the first image, Keith Vogt stands next to a podium with a slide on the screen titled "Modulation of functional connectivity by propofol, dexmedetomidine, and fentanyl.” In the second image, Derrick Liu presents at the same podium while a seated audience member listens; a slide behind him displays information about an fMRI experiment involving auditory encoding.

Keith M. Vogt, MD, PhD, FASA, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Bioengineering, and Clinical and Translational Science, and Derrick Liu, Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellow, were honored with top awards at the International Society for Anaesthetic Pharmacology (ISAP) 34th Annual Meeting, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, in San Antonio, TX. The ISAP meeting was an affiliated event of the 2025 American Society of Anesthesiologists annual conference.

Dr. Vogt received the first place abstract award for his presentation “Modulation of Functional Connectivity by Propofol, Dexmedetomidine, and Fentanyl: A Randomized Controlled 7 T Functional MRI Study in Healthy Young Adults” (co-authors Marcus A. Simmons MD; Courtney N. Kozdron; James W. Ibinson, MD, PhD; Helmet T. Karim, PhD).

Derrick Liu was awarded second place for his abstract “Brain Modulation by Sevoflurane and Nitrous Oxide During Memory Encoding and Periodic Painful Stimulation: A 3 T Functional MRI Study in Healthy Young Adults” (co-authors Taylor Duffy, Marcus A. Simmons, MD; Courtney N. Kozdron; James W. Ibinson, MD, PhD; Keith M. Vogt, MD, PhD, FASA).

Congratulations to Dr. Vogt and Derrick Liu on their outstanding achievements!
