
Isabella (Cajiao) Angelelli, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, Assistant Director of Engagement, and Director of Clinical Operations for the Pediatric Sedation Service at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, is set to receive the Outstanding Innovator Award from the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) at their 9th Annual Environmental Leadership Awards Ceremony. The event will take place on October 7, 2025, in Boston, MA.
Through their awards program, NERC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable materials management across the northeastern United States, recognizes communities, organizations, and individuals for their outstanding contributions to recycling education and innovation.
Dr. Angelelli, a national leader in promoting sustainability within the healthcare sector, is being recognized for her significant contributions to sustainable materials management in the region. As the co-founder of Clinicians for Climate Action at UPMC, Dr. Angelelli has spearheaded efforts to incorporate sustainability into clinical practices, amassing support from a network of over 500 clinicians. Under her guidance, the group has been instrumental in shaping UPMC’s climate strategy.
