
We are pleased to share that Erin A. Sullivan, MD, D.ABA, FASA, has been appointed Clinical Director, Perioperative Services, UPMC Presbyterian.
Dr. Sullivan earned her MD at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center. She also completed fellowships in cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine, as well as a research fellowship in pharmacology, at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Sullivan joined our faculty in 1998 and currently holds the rank of Professor.
In her role as the Clinical Director at UPMC Presbyterian, Dr. Sullivan will work closely with the chief anesthesiologist to oversee and manage the hospital operating rooms, non-operating room anesthetizing locations, and same-day services, ensuring a safe and efficient perioperative environment. She will work closely with hospital leadership, surgical services, and perioperative personnel to coordinate daily operations, drive operational improvements, and promote quality, safety, and efficiency across the perioperative enterprise. Dr. Sullivan will play a pivotal role in staffing allocation, fostering a healthy work culture, and actively supporting the department’s mission and strategic goals. She will continue in her leadership role as Associate Vice Chair for Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA) Clinical Services.
We extend our sincere thanks to Kimberly Cantees, MD, MBA, for her outstanding and transformational leadership as OR Clinical Director at UPMC Presbyterian since 2020. Under Dr. Cantees’ leadership, the department made significant advancements in operational efficiency, patient safety initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the perioperative environment. Her dedication and ownership greatly strengthened our OR operations and improved patient care outcomes. Dr. Cantees will continue her roles as Vice Chair for Community Engagement and Inclusion for our department and Interim Chief Anesthesiologist at UPMC Presbyterian.
