Dr. Daniel VanRiper Appointed to UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford Leadership Positions

Congratulations to Daniel F. VanRiper, MD, who was recently appointed Assistant Site Chief for UPMC Altoona and Assistant Site Chief and Director of Anesthesia of UPMC Bedford.

Dr. VanRiper completed his MD, Anesthesiology Residency, and Anesthesiology Fellowship at Hahnemann University Medical School. He has worked at our Altoona site since 2004 and at UPMC Bedford on a per diem basis since 2005. Formerly, Dr. VanRiper was Service Chief, Anesthesiology Residency Director, and Co-Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at Hahnemann University and Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesia at the Allegheny University of the Health Sciences. In December 1998, he joined UPMC Lee initially as a faculty member while providing anesthesia for their new Cardiac Program and became UPMC Lee’s Chief of Anesthesiology before joining the Altoona site in June 2004.

In his new roles, Dr. VanRiper is coordinating anesthesia services and managing the daily operating room schedule at UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford. He will also serve as a Department clinical liaison, attend all medical staff committee meetings, and fulfill significant clinical operating room responsibilities.
