Dr. Cristina Roosen Wins Patient Safety Award

"Doctor Roosen receiving an award"
Diane S. Hupp, DNP, RN, NEA-BC (L), Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Operations and Patient Care Services at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, presents Cristina Roosen-Marcos, MD (R) with the hospital’s Patient Safety Award.

Congratulations to Cristina Roosen-Marcos, MD, who was awarded the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (CHP) Patient Safety Award on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

Dr. Roosen was recognized for her dedication and for routinely going “above and beyond” for her patients. As just one example, when a patient arrived for a total spine MRI, Dr. Roosen recognized they had been patient a few months prior. After multiple phone calls and discussions with the radiology team, it was determined that the same test from the previous visit had mistakenly been reordered. Dr. Roosen saved the small child from a very long anesthetic and unnecessary test. If not for her vigilance and dedication to her patient, this could have slipped through the cracks.

Thank you, Dr. Roosen, for your diligence in keeping CHP a safe place for our patients!
