"Headshot of Doctor Luke"

Congratulations to Charles Luke, MD, MBA, who has been appointed to the position of Director of the Acute Interventional Perioperative Pain and Regional Anesthesiology Division for the Department of Anesthesiology, effective January 1, 2018.

Dr. Luke completed his Regional and Acute Interventional Perioperative Pain fellowship with our department in 2009 and proceeded to obtain his Master in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2013. He has served as the Site Director of the Acute Interventional Perioperative Pain Service at UPMC Passavant, overseeing tremendous growth.  Most recently, he served as Interim Co-Director of the Acute Interventional Perioperative Pain and Regional Anesthesiology Division.

Dr. Luke will work collaboratively with department and site leaders and UPMC operational leaders, providing strategic, operational, and financial oversite of our very active acute pain division.

We thank Beverly A. Pearce-Smith, MD and Rita Merman, MD for their outstanding contributions as Interim Co-Directors of the division over the past several months.
