Dr. Michael Kentor (L) and Dr. Sutanu Misra (R)

Michael L. Kentor, MD, has decided to retire at the end of this year after a remarkable career of over 40 years in our department, which has included serving as the current Chief Anesthesiologist at UPMC East, UPMC McKeesport, and UPMC Digestive Health and Endoscopy Center (“Penn Hills GI”) and previously serving as Chief at Monroeville Surgery Center, UPMC Mercy South Side Outpatient Surgery Center, and UPMC South Surgery Center. We are so appreciative of Dr. Kentor’s outstanding service and leadership over his long career with our department and wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement.

On January 1, 2021, Sutanu Misra, MD, CPE, MBA, will join our department faculty as Chief Anesthesiologist for the sites in our “East Pod” -  East, McKeesport, Penn Hills GI, and UPMC West Mifflin (which scheduled to open in December). Dr. Misra graduated with honors from Kent State University with a BS in biology and obtained his MD from The Ohio State University School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his residency at the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Misra will join our department after serving as Chief of Anesthesia at HCA Westside Regional Medical Center, Baptist Eye Surgery Center, Fort Lauderdale Heart and Rhythm Center, and HCA Surgery Center at Coral Springs in Florida. Previously, he was Chief of Anesthesia at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV and at Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, PA. We look forward to Dr. Misra’s arrival and to benefiting from his extensive management experience.
