Anti-Racism Statement

We acknowledge that racism, in all its forms, is a deeply rooted and systemic problem that affects individuals and communities. We are committed to actively opposing and eradicating racism in all of its manifestations.

Our stance against racism is unequivocal:

  1. Commitment to Equity: We acknowledge the persistence of racial inequities, shaped by both historical and current contexts. Our department is deeply committed to fostering an environment that prioritizes equity and diversity, ensuring that these values guide our work and interactions within the department and the broader community.
  2. Cultural Competence and Training: We prioritize cultural competence and training, encouraging members of our department to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand, respect, and embrace the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients, colleagues, and staff.
  3. Representation and Inclusion: We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all races and ethnicities are celebrated and valued. This extends to our patients, faculty, researchers, staff, and students.
  4. Community Engagement: We actively engage with the broader community to work collaboratively to eliminate racism and promote racial equity, both in healthcare and society at large.

By adhering to these principles, we are committed to working relentlessly to ensure that racism has no place within our department.

We invite all members of our community, including faculty, staff, students, and patients, to join us in this crucial endeavor. Together, we will sustain a department that actively opposes racism and works towards a more just and equitable future for all.
