Anti-Racism Statement

We acknowledge that racism, in all its forms, is a deeply rooted and systemic problem that affects individuals and communities. We are committed to actively opposing and eradicating racism in all of its manifestations.

Our stance against racism is unequivocal:

  1. Dismantling Racial Inequities: We recognize the existence of racial inequities, both historical and contemporary. We are dedicated to taking concrete actions to address and dismantle these inequities in our department and the broader community.
  2. Cultural Competence and Training: We prioritize cultural competence and training, ensuring that our members are equipped with the knowledge and skills to understand, respect, and embrace the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients, colleagues, and staff.
  3. Representation and Inclusion: We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where all races and ethnicities are celebrated and valued. This extends to our patients, faculty, staff, and student body.
  4. Reporting and Accountability: We encourage reporting of any racist incidents or behaviors within our department. We will hold ourselves and others accountable for acts of racism and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address and rectify such incidents.
  5. Community Engagement: We actively engage with the broader community to work collaboratively to eliminate racism and promote racial equity, both in healthcare and society at large.

By adhering to these principles, we are committed to being an anti-racist department, working relentlessly to ensure that racism has no place within our institution.

We invite all members of our community, including faculty, staff, students, and patients, to join us in this crucial endeavor. Together, we will sustain a department that actively opposes racism and works towards a more just and equitable future for all.
