The University of Pittsburgh/UPMC Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine will have a major presence at the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ (ASA) premier annual conference, ANESTHESIOLOGY 2025, taking place October 10–14 in San Antonio, Texas.
As the largest global gathering for anesthesiologists, the ASA Annual Meeting offers an expansive platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, and collaboration across all areas of the specialty. With an agenda that spans clinical innovation, scientific research, and medical education, the event draws thousands of practitioners and thought leaders from around the world each year.
Our department will be well-represented through a diverse and robust portfolio of scholarly activity and leadership. Faculty, fellows, residents, and staff, as well as other trainees, will contribute to 89 scientific presentations and six educational workshops. In addition, eight faculty members will serve as moderators or facilitators for sessions and workshops throughout the meeting. Twenty-six faculty members and one resident will lend their expertise to ASA and affiliated committees, highlighting the department’s ongoing contributions to national dialogue and policy in anesthesiology.
Our residency program will participate in the ASA Residency Programs Open House, to be held on Saturday, October 11, from 3–6 p.m. Attendees can visit table 132 to meet our residents and learn more about the training opportunities and academic environment at Pitt/UPMC.
In addition to academic and clinical presentations, our resident team is taking part in the ASA-Lifebox Resident Challenge, a fundraising initiative supporting Lifebox, a global nonprofit dedicated to making surgery and anesthesia safer worldwide. The challenge continues through October 11, 2025. Donations can be made to the UPMC Anesthesiology Residency team via the Lifebox website. Every contribution helps advance safe surgery across the globe.
A full schedule of our department’s participation, including presentation titles, speaker details, and committee involvement, is available in our 2025 ASA Meeting Companion (PDF).
