Gil Marchant, MD

  • PGY-4 Resident

Favorite Aspects of the UPMC Anesthesiology Residency: Loved the people and faculty I met on interview day, the structure of the intern year, and the comprehensive case load available through UPMC. Also, appreciate the above average compensation and low cost of living in Pittsburgh.

Hobbies: Love spending time with my wife and daughter, playing tennis, exercising, and making smoothies. We bought an older home, so house renovation and upkeep will become one of my hobbies here shortly whether I like it or not. I’m a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan, so I will be going to PNC Park when Cincinnati is in town, but I will likely not be rooting for the hometown team (although my wife says she will become a Pirates fan, which is a point of conflict in our marriage right now).

Post-residency Plans: job - undecided between private practice and academics

    Education & Training

  • Medical School: University of Cincinnati College of Medicine
  • Undergraduate: Brigham Young University - Provo, Utah
Research, Clinical, and/or Academic Interests

Clinical Research Interests: pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. I did research using virtual reality in the pediatric population to help treat postoperative pain and lessen the opioid burden during medical school; may be interested in continuing this if possible.
