Jacob Pickle, MD, MBA

  • PGY-4 Resident (Combined Anesthesiology-Pediatrics Program)

Hometown: Allentown, PA

Favorite Aspects of the UPMC Anesthesiology Residency: UPMC really stood out to me for its balance of top-tier clinical exposure and academics coupled with a genuine feeling of community between the residents, attendings, and clinical staff. Another major plus (for me personally) is the fact that it is one of only a handful of programs in the country to offer a combined anesthesiology-pediatrics residency, providing similar world-class teaching and support in a program tailored to merge the two specialties.

Hobbies: Participating in leagues or pick-up (usually in soccer, basketball, or lacrosse), reading, watching my sports teams (for better or for worse, Philadelphia teams and Manchester United) and (at least making attempts at) playing the guitar and piano. Specifically in Pittsburgh, trying out as many restaurants as possible and enjoying all of the historic/cultural sites (in particular Phipps Conservatory and the Andy Warhol Museum).

Post-residency Plans: planning on pursuing fellowship training (pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric critical care, or pediatric pain)
