We will participate and present the following work at the 2022 Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting & Workshops, which will be held May 14 – 17 in Palm Springs, CA.
In her new role, Dr. Howard-Quijano will work closely with other department leaders to help further our research goals, coordinate various aspects of departmental and institutional research with the Chair’s office, and help with the administration, mentoring, and daily operational oversight of our major research themes.
Two recent Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia articles on perioperative echocardiography by Kathirvel Subramaniam, MD, MPH, FASE, et al. were the topic of editorials.
The FASE designation is a peer-review process that recognizes dedicated American Society of Echocardiography members with an extraordinary commitment to the field of cardiovascular ultrasonography, designating those with proven professional contributions, a diverse skill set, and knowledge of all aspects of cardiovascular ultrasound.
Dr. Howard-Quijano served on the Scientific Sessions Program Committee and as an abstract grader. She also presented the lecture “Right Ventricular Strain.” Dr. Subramaniam presented the lecture “Imaging in Lung Transplantation.”
The event was a two-hour relay on Cybex Upright Stationary Bikes at UPMC Presbyterian, Shadyside, Passavant, Williamsport, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The Pitt Cardiac Team came in 3rd place at the event.
Kimberly Howard-Quijano, MD, MS, and Marta Kelava, MD, were awarded the inaugural Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists Multi-Institutional Collaborative Clinical/Translational Research Grant for their project "The Effect of Continuous Low Tidal Volume Ventilation and Hyperoxia Avoidance during Cardiopulmonary Bypass.”
Our cardiothoracic anesthesiology faculty and fellows will present work virtually at the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists 43rd Annual Meeting and Workshops on April 24-27, 2021.
