Dr. Siamak Salavatian to Present and Moderate at 2026 International Neuromodulation Society World Congress

Siamak Salavatian, MEng, PhD

Siamak Salavatian, MEng, PhD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Medicine, and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh and Director of Neuromodulation Research in our department, will present at the 17th World Congress of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS), May 9-14, 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Dr. Salavatian will present "Spinal Cord Stimulation Attenuates Ischemic Hypersynchrony and Reconfigures Chemosensory Spinal Networks in a Porcine Model." His presentation will explore innovative approaches to treating cardiac arrhythmias through targeted spinal cord stimulation, representing cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience and cardiovascular medicine. His oral presentation is part of Session 12: Cardiac, GI and GU Neuromodulation on Wednesday, May 13 from 6:00-6:10 PM, Pavillion 3 (room 3A+3B).

He will also present “Spinal Neuromodulation to Treat Arrhythmias” during Breakout Session 04: Neuromodulation for Cardiovascular Disease on Wednesday, May 13 from 11:51 AM to 12:09 PM in Pavilion 3 (Room 3A+3B).

Dr. Salavatian will also moderate Rapid Fire E-Poster Session 16: Neural Interfaces and Functional Modulation on Wednesday, May 13, 16:20-17:00, Station 1.

The 2026 INS World Congress brings together leading clinicians, scientists, and engineers under the theme "Neuromodulation: Bridging Minds, Machines, and Medicine." Founded in 1989, the International Neuromodulation Society is dedicated to advancing the scientific development and clinical awareness of neuromodulation, the alteration of nerve activity through electrical stimulation or chemical agents delivered to targeted sites in the body. The organization promotes the field through international meetings, its peer-reviewed journal Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, and educational initiatives.
