Ioannis (Yanni) Angelidis, MD, MSPH, has been elected as a Director on the Board of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA) and also elected to serve as a Director‑at‑Large for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP).
“I am honored to be elected as a Director at Large for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the country to advance research, education, and equitable, evidence‑based care for pregnant and postpartum patients,” Dr. Angelidis said regarding his SOAP election.
Through his leadership roles with both SOAP and SOCCA, Dr. Angelidis will continue to promote the advancement of cardio‑obstetrics and obstetric critical care, with the goal of improving outcomes and ensuring that high‑risk and vulnerable maternal populations receive the comprehensive, multidisciplinary care they deserve.
SOAP was founded in 1968 to provide a forum for discussion of problems unique to the peripartum period. The Society is comprised of anesthesiologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, and basic scientists from around the world who share an interest in the care of the pregnant patient and the newborn.
Regarding his election to the SOCCA Board of Directors, Dr. Angelidis added, “I look forward to supporting the society’s mission through service, advocacy, and education to advance the field of critical care anesthesiology.”
SOCCA is an affiliated subspecialty society of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and serves as the professional home for anesthesiologists who care for critically ill patients across all practice settings. Through education, research, advocacy, and community building, SOCCA advances the knowledge and practice of anesthesiology‑based critical care medicine.
Congratulations, Dr. Angelidis!
