Daniel Springer, MD, Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) and Assistant Program Director of the UPMC Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship, has received the 2026 UPSOM Clerkship Preceptor of the Year Award.
Established in 2006, the award recognizes faculty preceptors who deliver exceptional clinical instruction to Pitt medical students during their clerkship experiences. Each year, honorees are selected by the UPSOM Awards Committee and formally recognized by the Dean. Recipients are chosen based on nominations from both students and faculty who highlight individuals who consistently demonstrate excellence in teaching, mentorship, and clinical guidance.
This year’s nominations included enthusiastic praise from medical students who worked with Dr. Springer:
“Took every opportunity to teach me about anesthesia.”
“Went above and beyond in making sure I was learning something and gave me many opportunities to do procedures.”
“Kind, actively interested in teaching me about anesthesiology.”
“Did a great job including me in the team throughout the day.”
These comments reflect Dr. Springer’s commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment, engaging students in hands-on experiences, and ensuring they feel welcomed and valued as part of the clinical team.
Congratulations to Dr. Springer on this well‑deserved recognition.
